LEFÖ IBF participated on June 24th in the 16th Session of the Working Group on Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, hosted by the UN as a working group session for the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (COP UNTOC). The session included expert discussions and briefings surrounding two formal panel discussions addressing the intersection between human trafficking and modern criminal networks.
Panel 1 was dedicated to combating human trafficking linked to scam centers, shedding light on the rapid growth of cyber-enabled trafficking, which frequently forces victims to commit online fraud, as well as the challenges of supporting survivors across different legal systems.
Panel 2 examined the use of Artificial Intelligence in the context of human trafficking and the challenges it poses, particularly how criminal networks are leveraging AI technologies to facilitate trafficking and evade law enforcement.
