Although the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons has already passed a week ago, the fact that human trafficking exists, and the fact that we at LEFÖ-IBF continue our work with survivors of trafficking in women* and girls every day, remains a highly topical, existential issue, even more so for the survivors themselves than for us. That is why we were delighted about the opportunity to sit down together with Federal Councillor Elisabeth Kittl and Ute for the Unabhängiges FrauenForum program on Radio ORANGE 94.0, airing today!
LEFÖ-IBF Co-Director Tamara Schmidt sat down with Radio UFF to share concrete examples of trafficking in women* and girls that we encounter in our work. She explains that sexual exploitation is the most common form of trafficking in women* and girls and, globally, also the most common form in which women* and girls are trafficked. She also discusses how psychological pressure exerted by perpetrators on survivors can lead to a complex relationship of dependency, which perpetrators then deliberately exploit at a professional level, and how, in most cases, the perpetrators are part of organized crime.
