As we have entered the new year, it is important to look back on the past year; at the people we have met, the workshops we have conducted, and all the projects we have been part of.
Here is a look back at the workshop we conducted together with Amnesty International Austria as part of Amnesty’s „More Human Rights Please – Zusammen Wild im West“ event!
Amnesty International Austria has been a strong partner of ours for many years in the fight for the rights of sex workers. As early as 2016, Amnesty highlighted the lack of human rights for sex workers in a clear position paper. For more information, see Amnesty’s position paper.
Our close collaboration with Amnesty shows itself again and again: whether at events around 2 June, International Sex Workers‘ Day, or, as this time, in organizing a joint workshop. Together with the team from Amnesty International Austria Women’s Rights and LEFÖ-TAMPEP, we opened a space on 13 September 2025 to explore the question: “How can we create a human-rights-based perspective on sex work?”
The topics ranged from stigma against sex workers to the criminalization of sex work. Our workshop was designed to be interactive, with our TAMPEP team leading discussions with passerbys, who were then encouraged to write their comments on information displayed on posters. Our goal was to critically question common images and narratives and to develop approaches for a human-rights-based view of sex work.
A huge thank you to Amnesty International Austria and Amnesty International Austria Women’s Rights for the opportunity to critically engage with these topics and for the open, cooperative, and inspiring exchange!
