On the occasion of the International Sex Workers’ Day, on the 2nd of June, the PRO SEX WORK Alliance presents seven demands to Austrian society and, consequently, to the media.
We call for:
- recognition instead of moralization, as well as full social protection and labour rights for sex workers;
- public funding for sex worker-led organizations and for the representation of sex workers’ interests;
- a clear separation between professional counselling services and faith-based or religiously motivated support programmes;
- a safe environment that protects sex workers from proselytizing and missionary influence in both professional and public settings;
- an end to moralizing paternalism, psychological pressure, and economic discrimination;
- transparency about which services and organizations operate impartially and without a predetermined agenda;
- the abolition of special legal obligations imposed exclusively on sex workers.
