Many women* are currently backed into a corner.
Migrant women*, in particular, are being hit hard by the budget cuts from the City of Vienna and the federal government’s austerity measures. Those who already have less voice, less lobbying power, and less visibility feel the effects first—and most acutely.
The women* we support at LEFÖ often face extremely difficult circumstances:
Many are single mothers, responsible not only for themselves but also for their children. They navigate uncertain residency status, precarious working conditions, experiences of violence and exploitation, poverty, and structural discrimination—all while worrying daily about their children’s well-being and future.
LEFÖ stands by their side.
In 2026, we will continue to fight for the rights, visibility, and self-determination of migrant women*, especially now, when their lives and prospects are under increasing political pressure.
Our work at LEFÖ includes:
- Counseling Centre for Latin American Women*, including psychosocial, legal, and medical guidance.
- IBF – Intervention Center for Trafficked Women*, offering counseling, accompaniment, and protection for women* in Austria who have experienced violence, exploitation, or human trafficking.
- TAMPEP / Information, Counseling and Health Prevention for Migrant Women* in Sex Work, including cultural mediation through streetwork, counseling, and support services.
- Learning Centre for Migrant Women*, offering assistance with learning German, literacy, digital skills, and other educational competencies.
- Public Outreach, Advocacy, and Lobbying, to expose discrimination and give migrant women* a voice.
