Public relations, media, lobbying and networking at national and international level are among the cornerstones of LEFÖ’s work. They enable a differentiated analysis of socio-political conditions, the transfer of experience and expertise and a critical exchange with partners*.
For more than 25 years, LEFÖ is organising an annual educational seminar of several days that focuses on current issues in the context of women* and migration. With its continuity, the seminar offers an opportunity – unique in the German-speaking context – for discussion and reflection on developments and changes in formal and informal migration policies.
The conception of the LEFÖ homepage and its technical and content implementation reflect the the work of LEFÖ in a graphical style. The extensive tasks in the various fields of work, the concepts on which our activities are based, our goals and concrete implementations are presented in an up-to-date and comprehensive manner. The LEFÖ homepage is programmed according to the latest accessibility standards.
The regular and continuous updating of the LEFÖ facebook page, the sharing and promotion of events are an essential part of LEFÖ’s public relations work. The relatively high numbers of “visitors*” indicate the high level of interest in LEFÖ, in our political positions and statements. This kind of communication and the mutual support and strengthening via facebook is of great importance for the LEFÖ topics on women*.work.migration.
LEFÖ is repeatedly contacted by students* and other interested persons as an expert association and requested for information, statements, interviews and professional support on the various key topics. In order to structure the many enquiries, limit their time and respond to them in a differentiated and competent manner, a 2-hour information afternoon – once a month – is offered.
The collection of specialised books and other types of publications in the fields of women’s* migration, trafficking in women*, sex work and related topics is constantly being expanded. The archive is also supplemented with subject-specific newspaper and magazine collections. A large part of this library is open to the women* of the learning centre and the counselling centre as well as to LEFÖ’s staff members*.
Since 2008, regular networking meetings for press and public relations work have been held on the initiative of LEFÖ and WIDE (Development Policy Network for Women’s Rights and Feminist Perspectives). The working group includes migrant/women’s* organisations and women’s* networks whose central work focuses on women’s* rights in different countries worldwide and women’s* migration. The aim of these networking meetings is to share experiences in press and public relations work, to filter common interests in media work and to benefit from synergies. Since 2009, every year projects – like video clips, poetry slams or short film evenings – have been implemented that draw attention to structural violence against women* and invite people to engage with it.

Every year, LEFÖ actively participates in the events and rallies on 8th of March in Vienna with information tables and speeches. We stand up for women’s rights for all women*, especially for the concerns that are brought to us by our clients*.
Every year, LEFÖ organises a public event on the International Whores*’ Day together with various partners such as the platform sexworker.at, the self-organisation of migrant sex workers Red Edition (Vienna), the counselling centres PiA (Salzburg), iBUS (Innsbruck), SXA-Info (Graz) and maiz (Linz), Amnesty International, the KPÖ Women* and women* from die Grünen Vienna.
We draw attention to the social discrimination, stigmatisation and criminalisation of sex workers* in Austria and many other European countries and demand the complete decriminalisation of sex work and a respectful interaction with sex workers*!
Press releases support the public demands.
The International Day against Violence against Sex Workers* is yet another occasion for LEFÖ to address the public and, together with other counselling centres and self-organisations of sex workers* in Austria, to speak up against the restrictive regulations, discrimination, stigmatisation and, above all, the various forms of violence against sex workers*.
